You left your native country with your luggage in your hands, and your dreams in your heart to come to America, all alone. You are very brave!

It is likely your hope is to get an education and a good job. Maybe you even want to get married and have a good family. Or perhaps you want to become a career woman. Most immigrants come to the Unites States with basically these same goals.

If you prepare yourself well, avoid a few innocent mistakes, and learn how to take advantage of the opportunities and freedom that is yours in America, it can be possible for you to make your dreams come true.

It is important to start your life in America knowing how the United States was born, who built its greatness and why, and the price that was paid for the freedom that you and I enjoy here today. Knowing this, helps us immigrants understand our responsibility to preserve this liberty and freedom.  It also helps us to appreciate America, respect its laws and government, and to continue to build its greatness.
